What You Can Learn in Massage Therapy School

Our Massage Therapy Program has two goals. The first is to instruct the student on the technical skills necessary to perform a professional standard Swedish Massage. The second goal is to introduce the student to the education needed to successfully pass the NCBTMB or MBLEX(a national exam), in order to qualify for a Medical Quality Assurance license from the state of Florida.

As a student, you can expect a science-based curriculum. Topics include general knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and pathology. Massage theory is taught through weekly chapter overviews and broken down into smaller milestones to ensure knowledge retention. A portion of theoretical skills are integrated into our practicals, so your expertise stays relevant to your future career.

Calming Spaces To Develop Your Skills

Our artfully curated massage therapy center is equipped with contemporary massage tables, and chairs separated by a privacy curtain. You can practice your skills in a full spa environment. Our instructors train students in the correct usage of tools such as the hydrocollator, which heats and keeps moist packets for massages. You’ll also have the opportunity to practice on models as well as peers and clients while refining your technique. Two large skeleton models demonstrate muscular and nerve anatomy to bring our coursework full circle as we tie together medical science and practical application.

Students will progress through hands-on learning to achieve their “clock hours” requirement, which refers to supervised practical time with a trained instructor. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and observe demonstrations as you advance your skills.
